Tarui-juku

Tarui-juku, facing Oiwake in Minoji, flourished as the town of Nangu Taisha Shrine. In this post station there are crooked and old streets, which remind us of ancient times. There are also historic sites such as “Nangu Taisha Shrine stone torii” and “Tarui-no-izumi.” There are many high spots, such as Mino Ichinomiya “Nangu Taisha Shrine (with 18 main buildings designated as Important Cultural Properties by the national government), Honryu-ji Temple (the main gate of which was moved from waki honjin)” and “Shinzenin Temple (with a threestoried pagoda and Honjido Hall, which are Important Cultural Properties designated by the national government)”.
◆From Tarui-juku to Sekigahara-juku
In this portion of the course, the Nakasendo passes almost parallel to Route 21, intersecting with it. “Tarui-no-Ichiri Zuka” is one of two Ichiri Zukas along the Nakasendo which are designated as national historic sites; there was a tea house next to it and it flourished as a rest station until the beginning of the Showa Era. The “Nogami-no-Matsunamiki” (avenue of pine trees) here, which is the only one along Nakasendo in Gifu left, is also a treasure.
